Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Gentle Support for Lymphatic Flow & Whole-Body Wellness

A Calm, Restorative Approach to Circulatory & Nervous System Support

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic therapy designed to support the natural movement of lymphatic fluid throughout the body. Using light, precise techniques, MLD encourages lymphatic flow, helping the body manage fluid balance, circulation, and immune support while promoting deep relaxation.

This therapy is intentionally slow, non-invasive, and calming, making it suitable for a wide range of wellness goals, including post-procedure support, swelling management, and nervous system regulation.

Our Approach

Our sessions are based on the Vodder Method, a widely respected approach developed by Emil Vodder, which emphasizes gentle, methodical movements that follow the natural pathways of the lymphatic system.

The Vodder technique focuses on:

  • Light, skin-stretching movements (not deep pressure)

  • Specific sequencing to encourage lymph flow

  • Supporting the body’s natural drainage pathways

  • Creating a parasympathetic, “rest and restore” state

Sessions are always tailored to the individual and guided with care, intention, and respect for the body.

What Is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

The lymphatic system plays a key role in:

  • Fluid balance

  • Immune system support

  • Waste transport

  • Tissue health and recovery

Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have its own pump and relies on movement to promote the flow of lymph. While daily activity typically supports this process, prolonged inactivity or other factors can allow lymph to accumulate and place additional strain on the system. Manual Lymphatic Drainage uses gentle, precise techniques to help encourage lymph movement, supporting comfort, circulation, and overall balance.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your session begins with a brief intake review and conversation with your certified lymphatic therapist to understand your goals, health history, and comfort level. You’ll then relax in a private, serene treatment room while your practitioner performs gentle, rhythmic manual techniques designed to support lymphatic flow.

Sessions are slow, calming, and deeply restorative. Depending on your needs and with your consent, light lymphatic cupping techniques may be incorporated to further support movement and fluid balance.

Sessions are typically customized in length and approach, based on your goals and individual response.
